Bernard E. Doone, Jr., 71, of Carlisle, died peacefully
on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at his home. He was born on October 9, 1945 in New Castle, PA and was the son of the late Bernard
Doone, Sr. and Florence (Munson) Butz. Bernard courageously battled Lou Gehrig’s disease with grit, faith,
and determination. In the midst of his struggle with ALS, he was known for his ability to make people smile. He had a great
passion for nature, learning, and music. He was a beloved member of Otterbein United Methodist Church,
Carlisle. Bernard was an avid fly fisherman and enjoyed tying flies, building fly rods, and fishing the
LeTort Spring, Conewago, and Yellow Breeches. He was also an accomplished knife maker from handle to blade. He adored his family
and loved hugging them and making them laugh. He is survived by his son, Bernard Doone, III and his wife,
Melissa of Chantilly, VA, his sister, Patty Sandora and her husband, Joe of Carlisle, three grandchildren; Diego, Dylan and
Maya, and nephew, Jay Sandora. His life will be celebrated with family and friends at a time to be announced.
