Joyce H. “Joye” Moody, 89, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2017 in the Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian, Miss.  She was born on March 20, 1928 in Meridian, Miss., and was a daughter of the late William H. and Bridey (Hayes) Higgins.  She was the widow of LTC (Ret) Charles S. Moody, Jr., US Army, who passed away on June 28, 2014.

Joye was a 1946 graduate of Meridian Senior High School.  She was a loving homemaker and volunteered at the USAWC Thrift Shop for 20 years.  She was a member of the U. S. Army War College Memorial Chapel and the choir.  Joye was a former Girl Scout leader. 

She is survived by two daughters; Aura Kristen Moody (Irv) Leonard of Pasadena, MD and Jennifer Joy Moody of Opelika, AL, two sons; Charles S. (Rosemarie) Moody, III of Gastonia, NC and Thomas G. (Kathleen) Moody of Dillsburg, one brother, Arnold A. (Mary) Higgins of Crossville, TN, two sisters; Marjorie Smith of Collinsville, MS and Bessie Chandler of Meridian, MS, 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in the USAWC Memorial Chapel at Carlisle Barracks with U.S. Army Chaplain (Ret) David Reese officiating.  Interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, following a time of fellowship at the chapel.  A viewing will be held on Sunday, April 9, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Army Heritage Museum, 950 Soldiers Dr., Carlisle, PA 17013.  www.Since1853.com.

The Webb girls will miss Aunt Joye, but are comforted by knowing she has joined Uncle Charlie in Heaven. Cris, Jenny, Chip, Tom, and their families are in our prayers.

To my cousins, Chip, Kris, Jenny and Tommy, my heart aches for you. Your Mother was such a special person and will be greatly missed by all of my family. I still remember our vists together growing up. 9 kids together was an awful lot...our poor parents! Lean on each other. That's how you get through this.
