Marlene K. Grove, 84, of Carlisle, passed away on
Wednesday, March 22, 2017 in the Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle. She was born
on March 22, 1933 in Carlisle, and was a daughter of the late Carl L. and Ethel K. (Laughery) Haffly and was the widow of
Donald E. Grove, who passed away on June 23, 1987. Marlene
graduated from Carlisle High School with the class of 1951. She was a loving homemaker and had worked part-time
for 10 years at the New Kingstown Deli. Marlene was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in
New Kingstown and where she was a member of the “Young at Heart Group”. She was a member of
the New Kingstown Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Marlene was an avid New York Yankees fan. She is survived by one daughter, Kathy G. (and her husband, William) Cook of Camp Hill, one granddaughter, Daena K.
Prinsen of Mechanicsburg, two brothers; Frank Haffly of Carlisle and Carl Haffly of York, two sisters; Doris J. “Teener”
Trayer of Mechanicsburg and Georganna Rupp of Carlisle, one grandson, Kevin D. Cook of Gladwyn and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one brother, William “Pooder” Haffly. A viewing will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, March 27, 2017 followed by funeral services at 1:30 p.m. in the Ewing
Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Rev. Eric L. Funk officiating. Burial will be
in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. Memorial contributions may be made to Michael J. Fox Foundation
