Robert A. Smyser, Sr., 78, of Carlisle, passed away
quietly on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at his home. He was born on October 6, 1938 in Shermans Dale, and was a son of
the late Franklin Smyser and Hazel (Fitting) Finkenbinder. Bob served in the US Air Force from 1956 to 1960
and earned his GED while serving. He was a retired longtime independent big-rig truck driver. Bob was of
Protestant faith. He is survived by two daughters; Doris J. Porter of Shippensburg and Melanie M. Dyarman
of Carlisle, four sons; Robert A. Smyser, Jr. of Florida, Phillip C. Smyser of Carlisle, Duane E. Smyser of Martinsville,
VA and Daniel L. Smyser of Carlisle, one brother, Franklin Smyser of Florida, two sisters; Hazel Smyser and Martha Dick of
Shippensburg, 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services
will be privately held. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements. www.Since1853.com.
