John H. Hill, 82, of Carlisle, passed away on Sunday,
February 19, 2017 at ManorCare Health Services, Carlisle. He was born on May 2, 1934 in Carlisle, and was
a son of the late John Henry Hill and Amy (Snyder) Hill. He was married to the late Beverly A. (Hammerstein)
Hill, who passed away on January 27, 1995.
John retired from
the Boyd E. Diller Construction Company after many years of service as a truck driver. He was a member
of the Big Springs Fish & Game Association, Newville. He is survived
by his companion of 21 years, Bertha Taylor of Carlisle, three daughters; Beverly (Michael) Henke of Shippensburg, Rhoda Bailey
of Watkins Glen, NY and Randi Long of Newville, one sister, Sarah Gordon of Newburg, five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren,
four great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers; Nick,
Mike and Edward Hill, three sisters; Janet Hill, Lois Miller and Betty Rupp and one grandson, Martin Bailey. A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2017 in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens,
1921 Ritner Highway, Carlisle, with Rev. Barbara D. Albert officiating. Memorial contributions may be made
to his daughter, Randi Long, 117 Steelstown Rd., Newville, PA 17241 to help with funeral expenses. Ewing Brothers Funeral
