
Susan
K. Smiley, 50, of Duncannon, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at home with her loving family by her side.
She was born on July 27, 1966 in Camp Hill, and is the daughter of Lucille Mae (Miller) Sheaffer of New Bloomfield
and the late Joseph G. Sheaffer. Susan graduated from Susquenita High School with the class of 1984. She was a devoted
stay at home mom. Susan also cared for other children in her home from 1988 to 2001, and continued to stay
in touch with those children as they grew older. In 2001, Susan began working as the secretary to the Principal
at Susquenita High School, a position she held until her passing today. She was a member of the Cornerstone
Christian Church in Duncannon. Susan’s faith in God, love of family, friends, and working in her
flower beds, sustained her for the more than five years she courageously battled cancer. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her devoted
husband of 33 years, Steven E. Smiley, one son, Steven E. Smiley, Jr. and his fiancé, Tarah Smith of Duncannon, two
daughters; Jennifer S. Herrera of Duncannon and Becky M. and her husband, Brian A. Shull of Shermans Dale, one brother, Todd
Sheaffer and his companion, Harriet of West Fairview, five grandchildren; Elena, Andy, Jacob, Karleigh and Lea and several
nieces and nephews. Susan was predeceased by grandmothers; Geraldine C. Sheaffer and Alma K. Miller and
grandfather, Eugene L. Miller. A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2017 followed by a memorial service
at 12:00 p.m. in the Cornerstone Christian Church, 595 New Bloomfield Rd., Duncannon, PA 17020 with Pastor David White officiating.
Burial will be private. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, assisted the family with the arrangements. In lieu of

am so saddened by the death of Susie. She was so filled with the love of her husband, children and grandchildren. She influenced
the lives of other children and to all who came into her life. But most of all she loved her Lord, and she wanted to do his
