Susan K. Smiley, 50, of Duncannon, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at home with her loving family by her side.  She was born on July 27, 1966 in Camp Hill, and is the daughter of Lucille Mae (Miller) Sheaffer of New Bloomfield and the late Joseph G. Sheaffer.

Susan graduated from Susquenita High School with the class of 1984.  She was a devoted stay at home mom.  Susan also cared for other children in her home from 1988 to 2001, and continued to stay in touch with those children as they grew older.  In 2001, Susan began working as the secretary to the Principal at Susquenita High School, a position she held until her passing today.  She was a member of the Cornerstone Christian Church in Duncannon.  Susan’s faith in God, love of family, friends, and working in her flower beds, sustained her for the more than five years she courageously battled cancer.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her devoted husband of 33 years, Steven E. Smiley, one son, Steven E. Smiley, Jr. and his fiancé, Tarah Smith of Duncannon, two daughters; Jennifer S. Herrera of Duncannon and Becky M. and her husband, Brian A. Shull of Shermans Dale, one brother, Todd Sheaffer and his companion, Harriet of West Fairview, five grandchildren; Elena, Andy, Jacob, Karleigh and Lea and several nieces and nephews.  Susan was predeceased by grandmothers; Geraldine C. Sheaffer and Alma K. Miller and grandfather, Eugene L. Miller.

A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2017 followed by a memorial service at 12:00 p.m. in the Cornerstone Christian Church, 595 New Bloomfield Rd., Duncannon, PA 17020 with Pastor David White officiating.  Burial will be private. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, assisted the family with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Cornerstone Christian Church at www.cccduncannon.com or to the Joyce Meyer Ministries at www.joycemeyer.org.  www.Since1853.com

I am so saddened by the death of Susie. She was so filled with the love of her husband, children and grandchildren. She influenced the lives of other children and to all who came into her life. But most of all she loved her Lord, and she wanted to do his will. I will miss seeing Susie in church with her children and grandchildren, but know that we will all be reunited one day.
Steve I am so sorry for your loss she was a wonderful person praying for your family.
