

Ronald E. Lowry, 84, formerly of Carlisle, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2017 in Green Ridge Village,
Newville. He was born on November 3, 1932 in Shippensburg, and was a son of the late Joseph L. Lowry and
Katherine D. (Pomeroy) Lowry Hughes. He was married to the late Ruby E. (Pittenger) Lowry, who passed away
on Oct. 26, 2008. Ron graduated from Carlisle High School with the class of 1950. He served in the PA National Guard
for several years. He retired after many years of service and as a partner with the former Antrim Hardware
and Feed Store in Greencastle. He then worked part-time with McCune Lumber Co. in Shippensburg.
Ron was a member and lay leader at the Mt. Rock United Methodist Church, Newville. He was a longtime
member and Past Worshipful Master of Cumberland Star No. 197 F&AM, Carlisle. Ron was also a member
of the Zembo Shrine and the Harrisburg Consistory. He is survived by one son, Douglas K. Lowry of Florence, OR, one daughter,
Debra R. Irwin and her husband, George of Carlisle, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers; Edward Lowry and Robert Lowry. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2017
at 1:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Pastor Linda L. Maifair officiating.
Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be held on Wednesday evening
from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral with a Masonic service to begin at 7:30 p.m. Following the burial,
a time of fellowship will be held at the Mt. Rock United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial
