

Charles
P. Cathcart, Jr., 80, of Carlisle, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2016 at Green Ridge Village, Newville.
He was born on July 17, 1936 in Philadelphia, and was a son of the late Charles P. and Marie (Donohue) Cathcart. He graduated from West Philadelphia Catholic High School
and received his Bachelor’s degree from the St. Joseph’s College in Philadelphia. Charlie served
in the US Army Reserve for several years. He was a former CFO for St. Christopher’s Hospital in Philadelphia,
the Southern Chester County Medical Center and the Visiting Nurses Association in Ardmore. Charlie and
his wife moved to Path Valley in 1986 and together they operated a sheep farm in Doylesburg until his retirement in 2006.
He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Carlisle. Charlie was a member of the Sons of the
Hibernia at St. Patrick Church. He was a former volunteer with the State Department of Agriculture and
he chaired the PA Sheep Cooperative.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Elizabeth “Beth (Zimmerman) Cathcart,
one sister, Marie Byers of Phoenixville and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother,
Francis Cathcart. A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 2, 2017 followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.
in the St. Patrick Catholic Church, 85 Marsh Dr., Carlisle, with Rev. William C. Forrey officiating. Burial
will be in the St. Mary’s Our Lady of Refuge Cemetery in Doylesburg following a time of fellowship at the church.
Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may
