
Esther
F. Cassel, 92, of Carlisle, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2016 at her home. She was born on August
23, 1924 in Carlisle, and was a daughter of the late Norman Ocker, Sr. and Ruth Anna (Koontz) Ocker and the widow of Wilmont
W. “Bill” Cassel, who died April 3, 2008. Esther had worked at the former Bedford Shoe Factory, Carlisle and as a waitress
for over 20 years at John’s Hideaway Restaurant, Carlisle. She was also a housekeeper for several
years for several families in the Carlisle area. Esther was a member of the Hickorytown United Methodist
Church, Carlisle. She is survived by one daughter, Sandra L. (husband, Larry) Lebo of Carlisle, one son, Robert Comp of Carlisle, one
brother, Richard Ocker of Carlisle, three sisters; Revenda Burdette and Helen Ocker both of Carlisle and Faye Hall of New
Kingston, one grandson, Keith Uglow, one granddaughter, Saresa Seville, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Esther was predeceased by one brother, Norman Ocker, Jr., one sister, Claire Rowe and one granddaughter, Amy Uglow. A viewing will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, November
25, 2016 followed by funeral services at 1:30 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 South Hanover St., Carlisle, with
Chaplain Arlene Dunn officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.
