Robert Grove Quigley, 86, of Carlisle, passed away
peacefully on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at home with his daughter by his side. He was born on March 17,
1930 in Carlisle, and was a son of the late Wilmot A. and Mary E. (Byrd) Quigley and was married to the late Betty A. (Mowers)
Quigley, who died Sept. 5, 2005.
Robert retired from CVS (formerly
Rea & Derrick and People’s) Pharmacy in Carlisle and where he was a merchandise manager. Bob
had also worked for the former G. R. Kinney Shoes and Carlisle Shoe Co. He was a longtime member of the
Carlisle United Methodist Church and the Ushers Association. Bob was an avid golfer and scored a hole-in-one
on #5 at the Armitage Golf Course in 2005. He also enjoyed fishing and bowling.
He is survived by one son, Robert A. (Lois) Quigley and one daughter, Cindy L. Quigley and her companion Charlie Kuhn,
all of Carlisle, two granddaughters; Jennifer (Kurt) Paul of Carlisle and Heather (Brian) Brenneman of Mechanicsburg, five
great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers; Merle Quigley and
John Long and one sister, Fern Bottgenbach.
A viewing will begin
at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2016 followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home,
630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Rev. Jim VanZandt officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial
Gardens, Carlisle. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Assoc. or to the American Cancer
