
Helen L. James, 85, of Carlisle, passed away on Monday, October 24,
2016 in Thornwald Home, Carlisle. She was born on May 12, 1931 in Jennings, Oklahoma, and was a daughter
of the late Homer L. and Lula Belle (Hollon) Hinshaw. Helen was the widow of Jearald W. James, Sr.,
who died Feb. 17, 1999, Helen
was a longtime resident of California. She and her late husband, Jerry, relocated to Carlisle, PA, to be
near their grandchildren. She retired from AT & T Co. after a 30 year career. Helen had attended the
former First United Methodist Church, Carlisle. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards and spending time
with her family. During her stay at Thornwald Home, she was blessed by all of her caregivers and had special
friendships with Nicole, Bobby, and Jen, whom she held in the highest regard. She is survived by two daughters; Kelley W. and her husband Lawrence “Doc”
Loudon of Carlisle and LuAnn and her husband Mark Core of Knoxville, TN, four grandchildren; 2LT Wesley J. Loudon, US Army
of Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, Lainey K. Loudon a senior at University of Tampa, FL, J. D. Core and Eric Core both Knoxville, TN
and several nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the
Carlisle United Methodist Church, 45 S. West St., Carlisle, with Rev. Mira Hewlett officiating. A visitation
will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Burial will be private at Indiantown Gap National
Cemetery, Annville. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. www.Since1853.com

Kelley and Lawrence, I'm sorry to hear about your Mother's passing. I'm sorry that I'm not able to make
it to the Memorial Service. Helen was a very good neighbor of mine and a very dear friend to me for the last 11 years. I will
miss talking to her and setting out on the porch with her. I'm thankful to have had the privilege of assisting her to
doctor's appts and having lunch with her. We've created many memories that I will hold dear to my heart. My thoughts
