Robert James Devine, 69, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 in Harrisburg Hospital.  He was born on March 17, 1947 in Sewickley, and was a son of the late Ernest and Helen (Paley) Devine.

Bob graduated from Quaker Valley High School in 1964 and earned his Bachelor’s degree in 1970 from the University of Pittsburgh.  Bob retired after 31 years of service with the PA Department of Labor & Industry.  He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Carlisle.  Bob was a model train enthusiast and was a member of the Train Club at Bethany Village.  He enjoyed target shooting and was a member of Carlisle Fish & Game Association.  Bob was a loving and devoted husband and had dedicated the last 20 years of his life caring for his wife.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Susan S. (Burke) Devine, two sons; Jeffrey and his wife Melissa Devine of Enola and Brian and his wife Allison Benner of Woodbridge, VA, two daughters; Jennifer Shotzberger and her companion Shawn Peterson of Harrisburg and Julie and her husband Billy White of Boiling Springs, five grandchildren and two nephews.  Bob was predeceased by his brother and his wife, Patrick and Diana Devine.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in the Richard Rife Community Center at Bethany Village, 325 Wesley Dr., Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, with Chaplain Brand Eaton and Dr. Richard McCune officiating.  A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until time of services.  Inurnment will be privately held in the St. John’s Chapel of The Good Shepherd Columbarium.  Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of arrangements.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Asbury Foundation, c/o Bethany Village.
