

Roger A. Ellwood, 80, of Carlisle, passed away on
Saturday, October 8, 2016 at his home. He was born on September 25, 1936 in Southampton, NY, and was a
son of the late Albert T. and Claire J. (Shableski) Ellwood. Roger graduated
from Riverhead High School in New York with the Class of 1954. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the
Korean War. Roger earned his Bachelors of Art degree in 1963 from State University of New York in Albany
and he completed his graduate studies in 1968 and earned his secondary teaching certification for the State of New York.
Roger worked at Fort Indiantown Gap, Carlisle Barracks (Contracting Officer) and retired in 1995 as a Management Analyst
from Letterkenny Army Depot after 25 years of civilian service to the Department of the Army. Earlier in
Roger’s career, he served as a buyer for the U.S. Air Force at Griffiss AFB in Rome, NY and Robins AFB in Warner, GA.
He also worked as a buyer for Penn Central Co. in New York and Philadelphia from 1968 to 1974. Roger
taught high school English at Riverhead High School from 1965 to 1966. He was a devout Catholic and has
been a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Carlisle since 1979. Roger’s greatest joy
was sharing family life with his wife, children and grandchildren. He is survived
by his devoted wife of 48 years, Karen G. (Baronas) Ellwood, one son, Albert M. (wife Sara) Ellwood of Mt. Holly Springs,
one daughter, Alice M. (husband Robert) Montgomery of Lewistown, one brother, John T. (wife Melody) Ellwood of Clyde, NY,
two sisters; Patricia Repetti of Riverhead, NY and Donna (husband Albert) Zlatniski of East Moriches, NY, five grandchildren;
Marcus R. Ellwood, Laura G. Ellwood, Andrew R. Montgomery, Julia C. Montgomery and Rebecca A. Montgomery and 13 nieces and
nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00
a.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2016 in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 85 Marsh Dr., Carlisle, with the Very Rev.
William C. Forrey officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s New Catholic Cemetery, Carlisle.
A viewing will be held Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. followed by the Rosary service in the Ewing Brothers
Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul

Our
