
Leah Winzer Franciscus, 90, of Carlisle, passed
away on Monday, September 26, 2016 at Chapel Pointe in Carlisle. She was born on June 1, 1926 in Sellersville,
PA, and was a daughter of the late Herman and Louise (Reinhart) Winzer and the widow of Frederick Lindner Franciscus, who
died Oct. 23, 1985 and to whom she was married for 40 years. Leah graduated
from Carlisle High School with the Class of 1944. She co-owned along with her late husband the former Freddy’s
Auto Sales in Carlisle for nearly 37 years. Leah was a member of First United Church of Christ and formerly
served as an Elder, a Deacon and was a Youth Retreat, 2nd Tuesdayer’s and Sauerkraut Dinner cook.
After Freddy’s passing, Leah and a girlfriend from church began to travel and had visited Canada, Europe, Iceland
and throughout the United States. Leah will be forever remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother,
great-grandmother and friend. She is survived by one son, Greg
L. (wife, Sandy) Franciscus of Lake Meade, two daughters; Wendy F. (husband, Steve) Martson and Susan F. Tacchino, both of
Carlisle, six grandchildren; Jarrad (wife, Magan) Hetrick, Jesseca (husband, Wayne) West and Natale (wife, Marta) Tacchino,
IV, W. Creigh (wife, Shannon) Martson, Nathan (wife, Ellie) Martson and Jamie Markle, eight great-grandchildren; Maddison
and Eric West, Tucker, Hana and Avery Martson, Alaysia Kahn, Delainey Hetrick and Bridget Markle and two nieces; Barbara Conway
and Jane Hermann. Leah was predeceased by one sister, Virginia Ritter. Leah’s family would like to thank Theresa, the staff and caregivers at Bedford Terrace, Personal Care and Family
Place at Chapel Pointe who provided additional love and care to Leah since 2008. The family will hold a private graveside service at Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle, with Rev. Steve Motter officiating.
Memorial contributions in Leah’s name may be made to the Chapel Pointe Benevolent Fund, 770 S. Hanover St, Carlisle,
PA 17013. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements.
