
Verna H. Balsbaugh, 88, of Carlisle, passed away
on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at her home. She was born on October 3, 1927 in Port Royal, and was a daughter
of the late William Isenberg and Helen (Robinson) Isenberg Steiger. Verna was married to the late Robert
Lee Balsbaugh, who died on January 19, 2015. Verna graduated
from Juniata High School in 1944. She had worked at the Olmstead Air Force Base in Middletown and retired
after many years of service with the Mechanicsburg Naval Supply Depot. Verna was a member of the Middlesex
United Methodist Church, Carlisle. She enjoyed many things throughout her life including; RV travel, playing
cards, billiards, board games but most of all was being with her family. She is survived by one son, Barry E. (and his wife, Tamera) Balsbaugh of Duncannon, one daughter, Roberta L. Selan of
Etters, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased
by one brother, Paul Isenberg, two sisters; Sydney Bridges and Madelyn Landis and two grandchildren; Ethan C. Balsbaugh and
Amy L. Selan. A visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, September
17, 2016, followed by funeral services at 10:00 a.m. in the Middlesex United Methodist Church, 118 N. Middlesex Rd, Carlisle
with Rev. Jan F. Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.
Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial donations in Verna’s name may
