
Katherien “Katie” Ann Gilmore Herman,
61, of Carlisle, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2016 at home surrounded by her family and friends. She
was born on July 17, 1955 in The Bronx, NY, and is the daughter of Eleanor (Costello) Gilmore of Carlisle and the late Thomas
F. Gilmore. Katie graduated from Carlisle Area
High School class of 1974. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Shippensburg University and held
Master’s degree in education from Millersville University and Temple University. Katie retired from
Dauphin County Technical School where she taught English and Special Education. She was a member of St.
John’s Episcopal Church, Carlisle. Katie will always be remembered for her love of life, art, people,
and family. She is survived by her loving husband, Timothy, one
son, Adriel Shank of Carlisle and the loves of her life two grandsons; Jonas and Nolan Shank, her sisters; Christina of Harrisburg,
Rose Beam of Newport, Maria of Puerto Rico and one brother, Pedro of Iowa. She was predeceased by her brother,
Thomas Gilmore. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday,
September 2, 2016 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, On the Square, Carlisle, with Rev. David S. Bateman officiating.
Fellowship and visitation with the family will immediately follow the service in the church parish hall.
Interment will be private at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Ewing Brothers Funeral
