Stephen E. Miller, 65, of Carlisle, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at his home.  He was born on July 6, 1951 in Carlisle, and was the son of the late Freeman E. “Dusty” and Dorothy E. (Bear) Miller.

Stephen graduated for Carlisle High School and retired from the former Masland/Lear Corp., Carlisle, after 40 years of service.  He also drove school bus for Carlisle School District for 36 years and was an electric helper for 32 years for Glen Heberly.  Stephen was a member of National Rifle Association since the age of 18, a life member of Carlisle Eagles Aerie 1299 and a member of the Carlisle Gun Club.

He is survived by his companion, Brenda Luttrell of Carlisle, one daughter, Amanda L. Miller of Rocky Mt., NC, his sisters, Cynthia K. Miller and Courtney (Kathy Miller) Brooks, both of Carlisle, his friends that were more like family; Debra and Ronald Watts and his caregiver, Frederick Bomberger.  He was predeceased by one sister, Donna R. Miller.

A viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 1, 2016 followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St, Carlisle, with Chaplain Alan Echard officiating.  Burial will be in LeTort Cemetery, Middlesex Twp.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Rd, Harrisburg, PA  17110.

The last time I visited Steve he had chosen that day to go out of town. I wish, now that I had tried harder to see him. Last time I saw him was with my brother Lonnie in 1998, or 1999.
