

Donald L. Gossard, 78, of Carlisle, died on Wednesday,
June 8, 2016 at his home. He was born on January 24, 1938 in Carlisle, and was a son of the late Samuel
and Minnie C. (Timmons) Gossard. Don attended Carlisle High School
and was a veteran of the Vietnam War with more than 15 years of service in the US Air Force as a flight engineer.
He earned his GED while serving in the military. After his medical discharge, Don worked for the
Dunham Army Clinic at Carlisle Barracks for several years. He had been a member of the former First United Methodist Church,
Carlisle. Don was a member of Eagles Aerie 1299, White Circle Club and American Legion Post 101, all of
Carlisle. Don also was a longtime supporter of the Salvation Army of Carlisle. He is survived by his wife, Janet (Grant) Hartman Gossard, two sons; Donald Scott (and his wife, Tamera) Gossard of
Petersburg, WV and Jeff L. Gossard of Etters, one daughter, Vicki Gossard (and her husband, Steven) Harris of Martinsburg,
WV, two sisters; Ruth Wagner of Carlisle and Charlotte Gruenburg of Chesapeake, VA, one grandson, Aaron S. Gossard, one granddaughter,
Dena L. (and her husband, Asley) Eye, three great-grandchildren; Ayden Gossard and Weston and Rowan Eye, one step-son, Buddy
L. Hartman, Jr. of Shippensburg, one step-daughter, Vicki L. Hartman of Gardners, two step-grandchildren and several nieces
and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Sylvester, Ernie, Ray and Earl Gossard and one sister, Rosella
Minnich. Private graveside service will be held at Indiantown
Gap National Cemetery, Annville, with military honors at the convenience of the family. Ewing Brothers
Funeral Home, Carlisle is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial donations in Don’s name may be
made to the Salvation Army of Carlisle, 20 E. Pomfret St, Carlisle, PA 17013.
