Rodger L. Smiley, 59, of Landisburg, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at the Hershey Medical Center.  He was born on October 19, 1956 in Carlisle, and is a son of Opal Y (Paulus) Smiley of Shermans Dale and the late Harold R. Smiley.

Rodger graduated from West Perry High School.  He was employed with Nestle-Purina Co. in Mechanicsburg for many years.  Rodger was a member of Landisburg Church of God.  He loved watching NASCAR and enjoyed detailing cars.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Debra A. (Beam) Smiley, two sons; Jeremy M. Smiley (Grace) of Rochester, NH and Alex B. Smiley (Jen) of Duncannon, one sister, Darla R. Lupfer of Shermans Dale, two brothers, Kevin J. Smiley (Teresa) of Shermans Dale and Darrell L. Smiley (Lisa) of Mechanicsburg, five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by one brother-in-law, Dennis Lupfer.

A viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2016 followed by funeral services at 12:00 p.m. in the Bible Baptist Church, 1757 New Bloomfield Rd., New Bloomfield, with Pastor Trevor Lightner officiating.  Burial will be in Shermans Dale Presbyterian Church Cemetery.  Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle is in charge of arrangements.  Memorial contributions may be the National MS Society, P.O. It is with both sorrow at the loss of such a dear friend and neighbor and joy knowing Rodger is undoubtedly walking with the Lord that we send our most heartfelt condolences to Deb and family. We thank the Lord for the opportunity to have known Rodger and we are better people for it. He will be missed greatly!!! We must remain strong in the faith and we WILL find peace in the Lords comforting embrace. God Bless you Deb and family....
