Dennis L. Mellott, 69, of Carlisle, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Carlisle Regional Medical Center.  He was born on April 4, 1947 in Carlisle, a son of the late Paul R. and Vyletta M. (Russell) Mellott, and was married to the late Paulette L. (Sheaffer) Mellott, who died Jan. 16, 2016.

Denny served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and retired from the PA Army National Guard as a Sergeant First Class with more than 30 years of service.  Denny earned his GED from Carlisle High School.  He was a life member of Eagles Aerie 1299, White Circle Club, AmVets, American Legion Post 101 and V.F.W. Post 477, all of Carlisle.

He is survived by one daughter, Brandy L. (husband, Butch) Mellott- Arnold of Enola, one son, Bill J. Mellott of Newville, two brothers; Michael Mellott of Middleburg, FL and Kerry Mellott of Carlisle, one sister, Sandra Baker of Carlisle, two grandchildren; Darien and Aden Mellott and many nieces and nephews.  Dennis was predeceased by one brother, Paul R. Mellot, Jr.

A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St, Carlisle, with Rev. Richard Reese officiating.  A time of fellowship will immediately follow the service at the V.F.W. Post 477, Carlisle.  Burial with military honors will be at 2:30 p.m. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.  Memorial contributions in Denny’s name may be made to the Purple Heart Foundation, 7008 Little River Turnpike, Annandale, VA 22003.

Please accept my sympathies. Denny was a very good man & personal friend. We will all miss him. I am very proud to have served with Denny in the PA Guard for many years.
