
Our beloved, Betty J. Wertz, 82, of Carlisle, died on Sunday,
May 1, 2016 at the Hershey Medical Center. She was born on March 7, 1934 in Carlisle, and was a daughter
of the late Herbert and Mildred (Thumma) Lebo and was the widow of Edward L. Wertz, who died on Nov. 27, 1994. Betty was a graduate of Mechanicsburg High School. She was employed by the former Book of the Month
Club, worked for several years at Karns Grocery Store and was an Avon Representative for many years. Betty's
devotion to her family was obvious to all. She enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening and spending time with
her beloved kitty, Ellie. She is survived by five daughters;
Barbara (husband, Richard) Murray of Mechanicsburg, Karen Wertz (and her husband, Robert Castallo) of Boiling Springs, Kim
(husband, Eugene) Ledwith of Sarasota, FL, Tracy Wertz (Barry Shetter, deceased) of Carlisle and Diane (husband, Barton) Francis
of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, two brothers, six sisters, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2016 followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. in the Ewing
Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St, Carlisle. The Rev. Pete Gdula will officiate. Burial
will follow in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. Memorial donations in Betty’s name may
be made to the Lymphoma-Leukemia Society or to The National Breast Cancer Foundation Inc.
