Daniel F. Kelley died Monday April 11, 2016 in Carlisle at the age of 82.  He was born January 29, 1934 in Troy, NY to the late Murry L. Russell of Tampa, FL, and the late Edith L. Kelley of Saranac Lake, NY.

He was a graduate of Barker Central High School in Barker, NY, and a U.S. Navy veteran having served in the Korean War.  Mr. Kelley was a truck driver for over 41 years, retiring with 26 years as a member of the Teamsters Union Local(s) 776 & 560, and later becoming an owner/operator of his own small trucking company in Tampa, FL.  Mr. Kelley was an active member of the AmVets post 274, as well as a member of the Eagles Aerie 1299 and the White Circle Club in Carlisle. A past Nascar card-carrying member dating back to 1956, he was a race car owner/driver in the old Nascar modified division in the 1950s & 60s, where he affectionately earned the nickname “Wall-banger Kelley.”  He enjoyed spending time with his family and his beloved dog, Koko. He also liked studying history, doing crossword puzzles, working on his computer, fishing, and watching Nascar.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jean Kelley, his daughter Cynthia Nethken, and his son Patrick Kelley and wife Teresa, all of Carlisle; as well as  his daughter Linda Kelley of Temecula, CA. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Delesky of Beverly Hills, FL.

He is also survived by 14 grandchildren: Shawn Johnson of Boiling Springs; Jimmy and Daniel Peters of Canaan, ME; Michael Johnson, Pamela Kelley, Patricia Kelley, Bradley Kelley, Amanda Sievers, and Richie Matthews, all of Carlisle; Kenny, Kyle, Kevin, and Kerri Keyser of Temecula, CA; as well as Cathy Lahey of Charlotte, NC; and 7 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, as a final wish, Mr. Kelley has requested that anyone wishing to pay respects may do so by donating to their local ASPCA office, or any other animal rescue operation.  Services will be announced when complete.  Ewing Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
