
Doris Y. Wickard, 70, of Carlisle, passed away Wednesday,
April 6, 2016 at her home. She was born July 12, 1945 in Carlisle, a daughter of the late Ralph and Frances
(Reich) Swarner. Doris attended Boiling Springs High School and later
earned her G.E.D. She retired from PennDot in Harrisburg after 13 years of service, and also worked for
the PA Depart. of Revenue and the Cumberland County Nursing Home. Doris was a member of First United Church
of Christ, Carlisle. She loved playing bingo. She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Thomas E. Wickard, one daughter, Tammy (husband, Clarence) Garlin
of Carlisle, two sons; Todd Wickard of Shermansdale and Tim (wife, Susan) Wickard of Carlisle, two granddaughters; Alycia
Sherman and Ashley Garlin both of Carlisle, two great-granddaughters; Adalyn and Aaliyah Myers both of Carlisle, one sister,
Debra (companion, Ron Madison) Swarner of Carlisle, one brother, Harold Swarner of Carlisle and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by twin great-granddaughters; Ava and Lily Myers. A viewing will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 11, 2016 followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. in the Ewing
Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St, Carlisle, with Rev. Rachel Schwab officiating. Burial will be
in Ashland Cemetery, Carlisle. Memorial contributions may be made to her church.
