
Laura E. “Toot”
Young, 81, of Carlisle, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at her home. She was born on October 5, 1934
in Carlisle, a daughter of the late Clayton and Helen (Piper) Bitner. Laura retired in 2000 from the former Carlisle Tire & Rubber Co. after 32 years
of service. She was a member of Centerville Lutheran Church, Newville. She is survived by her companion of more than 40 years, Paul C. Failor, one son, David
L. (wife, Jeanne) Young of Newville, three daughters; Mary E. (husband, Edward) Gettle of Newville, Loretta M. (husband, Michael)
Berkheimer of Mechanicsburg and Judy A. (husband, Ken) Evans of Carlisle, two brothers; Charles Bitner of Mt. Holly Springs
and Ervin Bitner of Shippensburg, one sister, Vesta Kutz of Carlisle, 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and many nieces
and nephews. A viewing
will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2016 followed by the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral
Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Rev. Jerri Carlin and Rev. Arlene Dunn officiating. Burial will
be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Newville. Memorial gifts in Laura’s name may be made to her church
or to Celtic Hospice.
