1SGT (Ret) Ronald Guy Cox, US Army, 75, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at Harrisburg Hospital.  He was born on February 18, 1941 in Apollo, PA, the son of the late Guy Cox and Miriam (Yeater) Cox Stephens.

Ron graduated from the Vandergrift High School in Vandergrift, PA and shortly thereafter joined the US Army.  He served 26 years in the Army and retired in 1985 with the rank of First Sergeant.  He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, served two tours in Germany and Korea.  Ron was a medic and was awarded many honors and medals for his service in the Army.  After his retirement, Ron worked as security guard in Carlisle with S.C.H.A.D.D.  He was a member of the N.R.A. and American Legion Post 101, Carlisle.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kay E. (Dinges) Cox, one son, Greg A. Cox of Carlisle, one daughter, Laurie M. Morton and her husband Dale Morton Jr. of Newville, five grandchildren; Matthew Cox, Kayleigh Martin, Kimberly Hester, Daniel Fatkin, Ryan Morton and three great-grandchildren.

Burial with military honors will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 26, 2016 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.  There will no viewing or visitation.  Those wishing to follow in the funeral procession should meet at 9:00 a.m. at Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St, Carlisle.
