
Mary A. McGarvey, 93, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 in Chapel
Pointe at Carlisle. She was born on March 21, 1922 in Wilmington, Delaware, a daughter of the late John
Broughall and Mazie (Weber) Broughall Bailey. She was the widow of Rev. Samuel Wilson McGarvey, who died
in 1995. Mary was a loving homemaker and a member of the Christian and Missionary
Alliance Church. She graduated from DuPont High School in Wilmington, Del. and also attended for two years
the former Missionary Training Institute in Nyack, NY. She is survived by four daughters;
Jean (Wayne) Muckel of Mifflinburg, Marge (Jim) Henry of Brunswick, ME, M. Esther (Peter) Lovejoy of Millmont and Carol (Peter)
Hill of Anaheim Hills, CA, three sons; Sam (Deborah) McGarvey of Raleigh, NC, John (Cindy) McGarvey of Cochranton and Joel
(Lynn) McGarvey of Williamstown, one brother, Thomas Bailey of Ft. Myers, FL, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces
and nephews. A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 followed
by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the Henry Chapel at Chapel Pointe, 770 S. Hanover St, Carlisle, with Rev. Samuel McGarvey
and Rev. Steve Motter officiating. Burial will be private at the LeTort Cemetery, Carlisle.
Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial gifts in Mary’s
name may be made to Chapel Pointe at Carlisle.
