Gabrielle G. Abbott, 84, of Carlisle, Pa. died on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at the Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home, Carlisle.  She was born on March 2, 1932 in Fall River, MA, and was a daughter of the late Edmond D. and Ella (St. Laurent) Gaucher.

Gabrielle better known as Gabby for her gift of gab graduated in 1950 from B.M.C. Durfee High School in Fall River, MA.  She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Carlisle.  Gabby was an accomplished artist in all three discipline’s pastel, oil and watercolors.  She enjoyed dancing, comedy and was one of the funniest people that you ever met and more than one talent agent wanted to sign her up.  Her family often said she was a cross between Lucy Ricardo and Phyllis Diller. People were drawn to her realizing what a special person that she was. She was also a very sharp dresser who loved her jewelry.

Gabby along with her husband Russell were very caring and loving people whom had an open house policy taking many of their children’s friends and relatives into their home feeding them and letting them stay there from overnight stays to much longer stays always lending a needed ear and giving them advice when they needed it. They were second parents to many kids who loved them like their own parents. They never turned anyone away and many people credit them with the happy successful persons that they became.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, CWO (Ret) Russell E. Abbott, US Army, one son, Russell W. “Rabbit” Abbott of Etters, one daughter, Michelle J. (and her husband, David) Kimble ) one brother, COL (Ret) Edmond D. (and his wife, Lori) Gaucher, USMC of Prescott, AZ, two sisters; Edmee Flory of San Marcos, CA and Clarisse Rappe of Phoenix, AZ, three granddaughters; Lisa Kimble, Denise Holloman and Melissa Halicki, one grandson, Ryan Kimble, one great-granddaughter, Sophia Holloman and several nieces and nephews including Chris (and his wife, Laurie) Gaucher and Curt (and his wife, Janelle) Gaucher who were more like sons and daughters to her.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA with Rev. David Bateman officiating.  Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Gabrielle’s name may be made to the National Parkinson’s Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131.  www.Since1853.com

It's been a while Gabby but I thought of you often. We met when we double dated way back when. God keep you close to Him.

Jackson Family

Thought it has been some years since I had the joy of seeing Gabby with Russ at my Parents home, ( They are now deceased), we often spoke of the fun we had greeting and sharing family stories and how funny Gabby was about going to the John Wayne movies while dating! Seeing her playful spirit and caring has also remained with me. Most sincere regards that I too am sharing in her passing. Many waters can not quench love, neither can the floods drown it.-The Bible💞✝
