Audrey M. Chastain, 89, formerly of Newville, passed away on Wednesday,
January 13, 2016 at Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle. She was born October 4, 1926
in Duncannon, a daughter of the late H. Edward and Catherine (Rheem) Longacre, and was the widow of John L. Chastain, Sr.,
who died May 17, 1986. Audrey retired from the former Kinney Shoe Corp. after 10 years of service
and had also worked at the former Carlisle Garment Factory. Audrey attended Great Hope Baptist Church,
Carlisle. She is survived by two sons; John L. (wife, Phyllis) Chastain, Jr. of
Newville and David E. (wife, Linda) Chastain, Sr. of Carlisle, two daughters; Bonnie M. Sechler of Loysville and Sylvia A.
Richcreek of Newville, one sister, Emma Mell of Newville, 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter
and many nieces and nephews. Audrey was predeceased by one son, Edward Chastain, one brother, Edward Longacre
and one sister, Ruth Garman. A viewing will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January
19, 2016 followed by the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with
Rev. Dale E. Barrick officiating. Burial will be in Dillsburg Cemetery. Memorial contributions
may be made to her church, 110 Fern Ave., Carlisle, PA 17013.
