Paul E. Unger, 93, of Carlisle, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2015
at Chapel Pointe at Carlisle. He was born on June 2, 1922 in Newville, and was the son of the late Charles
H. Unger and Ruth Elizabeth Jane (Diehl) Unger. He was married to the late Janet L. (Russell) Unger, who died May 16, 2007.
Paul
worked at Letterkenny Army Depot for 31 years. He was awarded numerous honors and medals, including the
Bronze Star while serving his country in the US Army during WWII. Paul was a member of St. Paul Evangelical
Lutheran Church, Carlisle. He was also a member at various clubs including; V.F.W. post 477-Carlisle, Eagles
1299-Carlisle, White Circle of Carlisle, American Legion Post 223-Shippensburg and the Moose Lodge 842-Chambersburg.
He is
survived by one sister, Thelma B. Gatten of Carlisle, one brother-in-law, William H. Russell of Shippensburg and many nieces
and nephews. Paul was predeceased by five sisters and two brothers.
A viewing
will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 followed by the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral
Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle. Rev. Walt Frankenberry will officiate the service. Burial
with military honors by the Shippensburg American Legion & V.F.W. Minutemen will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial
Gardens, Carlisle.
