Mary Elizabeth Crain Fry, 97, formerly of Dickinson Twp., died early Saturday morning August 1, 2015 at Thornwald Home, Carlisle.  She was born on Aug. 8, 1917 in Carlisle, a daughter of the late Robert Emory Crain and Sara Elizabeth (Kingsborough) Crain and was the widow of James H. She is survived by several cousins, including, Yvonne Davidson of Carlisle, one sister-in-law, Alverta Gibson of Carlisle and nephew, Christopher Gibson.  Mary was predeceased by one brother, Richard Crain.

A viewing will begin at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with her former Pastor Gerald Small officiating.  Interment will be at Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle.  In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Carlisle Seventh-day Adventist Church, 10 Belvedere St., Carlisle.  www.Since1853.com.

We were Mary's neighbors in Carlisle for 9 years. After Jims death Mary and I became really close friends. We would meet in our yards when mowing our lawns on our tractors and share recipes and stories of what was going on in the neighborhood. After my husband and I moved away Mary continued to write me regularly every couple of months. I totally enjoyed her letters and she said she loved hearing from me. I truly loved Mary and will miss her so much.
