Wayne E. Shumaker, 79, of York, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at York Hospital.  He was born on May 10, 1936 in Enola, a son of the late Lee L. Shumaker and Anna A. (Duncan) Billow and also his late step-father, Robert Billow.

Wayne was a 1954 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School.  He was a longtime farmer and had farmed for the former H. R. Gutshall & Sons in Carlisle Springs and the former Ashcombe Dover Dairy in Dover.  Wayne also worked for nearly 20 years and retired from the Kinsley Construction of York.  He enjoyed woodworking, making homemade beef jerky, watching his grandchildren participate in sports and being a part of the old men’s club at Hake’s Grocery Store in Dover.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Regena H. (Wagner) Shumaker, four children; Beth (husband Ray) Diehl of Carlisle, Randy (wife, Lorrie) Shumaker of Dover, Rick (wife Teresa) Shumaker of York and Timothy (wife Darlene) Shumaker of Dover, seven grandchildren; Brandi, Amanda, Lacey, Tyler, Tessa, Clay and Quinn, five great-grandchildren, two step-granddaughters; Teresa and Jackie, three step great-granddaughters and three step great-great-grandchildren and one niece, three nephews and one cousin.  Wayne was predeceased by one brother, Ray Shumaker.

A viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2015 in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle.  A graveside service will follow at 11:15 a.m. at the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, 1921 Ritner Highway, Carlisle, with Rev. Richard Reese officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity or to your local S. P. C. A. in Wayne’s name.
