Arthur Lee Kuykendall, 62, of Carlisle, died on Sunday, May 10, 2015 in Dickinson Twp. from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.  He was born on Dec. 2, 1952 in Carlisle, a son of Catherine (Myers) Kuykendall Piper of Carlisle and the late Oliver W. Kuykendall.  Art was married to the late Sharon Kuykendall.

He was a 1970 graduate of Carlisle High School and married high school sweetheart Nancy Hess.  Art had worked in the construction industry all his life and had the strength and perseverance of men half his age.  He enjoyed making homemade wine with a group of friends.  He enjoyed NASCAR and was a fan of Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jr.  He was an avid member of the Carlisle White Circle Club.  Anyone that knew him can remember his kindness, soft heart, and witty sense of humor.

In addition to his mother, Art is survived by two daughters; Kristy (husband James) Deavers of East Berlin and Karla (husband Kevin) Doyle of Elkhart, IN, one brother, Wayne Kuykendall of Harrisburg, one sister, Norma (husband Jake) Jacoby of Little River, SC and four grandchildren.

A visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2015 followed by a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St, Carlisle.  Rev. Dr. Margaret Wise will officiate.  Burial will be private.  A future “Poker Run” is being planned in Art’s honor.

Dear family,

I wish I could be with you during this time, but please know we are sending you hugs and love from Portland. Even though I didn't have the opportunity to know my uncle as much as I would have liked, I know how much he cared for his family and especially his children. Rest in peace Uncle Art and you will be missed.
