Henry L. “Pete” Hammond, 77, of Carlisle, died on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at his home.  He was born on Aug. 28, 1937 in Doylesburg.  Pete was raised by his late aunt and uncle, Annie and Daniel Miley after his father, Fred Hammond died when Pete was five years old.

Pete was a heavy equipment operator for many years.  He retired from Leon E. Wintermyer, Inc. after 35 years of service and had worked 25 years for the late Robert Noll Contracting.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Mary Jane (Downin) Hammond, two daughters; Carol Hammond-Dunmire (husband, Billy) of Shippensburg and Roxanne Hammond-Gray (husband, George) of Carlisle.  Pete is also survived by extended family and many friends including four special fishing friends.

Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.  Memorial donations may be made to Celtic Healthcare, 900 Century Dr., Suite 201, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.  Ewing Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  www.Since1853.com.
