Walter Z. Loy, 84, of Carlisle, died on Thursday,
March 19, 2015, at home. He was born on August 21, 1930, in Newville, a son of the late Guy L. and Florence
(Ziegler) Loy. He graduated from Newville High School and was a US
Army veteran serving from 1954-56. Walter worked many years as a manager in establishing loans and farm
credit services for the agricultural community in the Carlisle area. Walter also contributed to the local community by acting
as a youth counselor for Pennsylvania Association of Farmers Cooperatives, served as a basketball official for PIAA, was active
in the Carlisle Area Sports Association, and active as an advisor in the local 4 H organization. Walter
attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in which he served in many capacities. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Dolores (Heberlig) Loy, four children; Ted Loy and wife, Mary Ellen
of Williamsport, Juli-An Coyle of Orlando, FL, Carol Woolums of Newville and Steve Loy and wife, Connie of Carlisle, one brother,
Ed Loy, three sisters; Amy Mowery, Jean Fickes and Martha Book, his grandchildren; Matt Woolums, Meredith James, Amanda Wilson,
Stacey Coyle, Ryan Loy, Keeley Loy, Shelly Loy, Steve Loy, Jr. and Joshua Loy and several great grandchildren.
Walter was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Louise (Drexler) Loy, who died April 12, 1976. A visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, followed by services at 2:00 p.m. in the
Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle. Rev. Walt Frankenberry will officiate.
Interment will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. Memorial donations may be made
