Grace Blackwell Kaiser (nee Decker),
age 98, died peacefully at Cumberland Crossings retirement home in Carlisle on January 14, 2015. She was
born on March 31, 1916, in Woodsfield, Ohio to the late James Adam Decker and Nora Marie Stoehr. She was
preceded in death by; her first husband, Lawrence H. Blackwell to whom she was married for 41years; and her second husband,
Fred L. Kaiser to whom she was married for 31 years; and by her son Lawrence Junior Blackwell, who died in 1997; and by five
sisters and five brothers.
She is survived by her sisters; Iris
Kerschbaumer of Urichsville, Ohio and Leah Gold of Wooster, Ohio and by her daughter, Virginia Irene Walker of Carlisle. She
leaves 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
She was a
former member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in CarlislePennsylvania and of the First United Methodist Church of Cuyahoga
Falls, Ohio. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was a Life Member of Women of the Moose.
Many people got to know her while she worked for 35 years at various stores of the Great Atlantic and Pacific
Tea Company in Northeastern Ohio. Her ever present smile will be missed by her family and her many friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 PM, Saturday,
January 17, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Carlisle. Interment will be at Northlawn Memorial Gardens
in Peninsula, Ohio. Memorial gifts may be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church, Carlisle.
