
Louanne Gallaher Barnhart
died in her home on December 12, 2014. Mrs. Barnhart is survived by her 3 children; Andrew Dierks of Altoona, Joseph Barnhart of Athens, GA and James Barnhart
of State College. She is also survived by siblings; Patrick Gallaher of Phoenix, AZ, Jane Gallaher of Coalport
and Gary Gallaher of Herminie, as well as sisters-in-law; Donna Owens Gallaher and Winifred Samuels Gallaher.
Mrs. Barnhart was predeceased by her husband, Earl M. Barnhart, brother, Joseph Sherman Gallaher and parents Joseph
H. Gallaher and Mildred (Witherow) Gallaher. Mrs. Barnhart was a 1951 graduate of Beccaria-Coalport-Irvona High School, and attended Penn State University
main campus, 1951-53. She was a talented cook, amateur artist, and passionate Christian. At various times,
she attended the Brethren in Christ, Tree of Life, and Second Presbyterian churches in Carlisle. She also
volunteered as a Bible teacher for female inmates of Cumberland County Prison. A memorial service will be held at the Brethren in Christ Church, 1155 Walnut Bottom
Rd., Carlisle, on Saturday, December 20 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to
Safe Haven Orphanage (safehavenorphanage.org). Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the
arrangements.
