Morris K. “Butch” Kurtz, 67, of Newville, died on Sunday, November 23, 2014, at Carlisle Regional Medical Center.  He was born on April 6, 1947, in Milton, a son of the late Morris K. Kurtz, Sr. and Jenny (Troxel) Kurtz.

Butch worked for 22 years with Keen Transport as a security guard.  He was recently baptized at the Big Spring United Lutheran Church, Newville.  He enjoyed NASCAR, crossword puzzles, word searches and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 31 years, Betsy J. (DeWalt) Kurtz, three daughters; Stacey S. Kurtz of Carlisle, Chandra L. (husband, Doug) Bechtel of Newville and Brittany L. (husband, Steve) Whisler of Newville, three brothers; Andy Kurtz of Watsontown, Lavere Kurtz of Shamokin and Wayne Kurtz of Millmont, two sisters; Shirl Knoll of Lewisburg and Mary Pennicove of Washingtonville, 7 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter on the way.  Butch was predeceased by one brother, Donny Kurtz and two sisters; Deb Stump and Stella “Pete” Reichenderfer.

A viewing will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover Str., Carlisle.  The Rev. Arlene B. Dunn will officiate.  Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Newville.  Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
