Linda K. Darhower Benson, 65, of Newville, passed away on
Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at Church of God Home, Carlisle with family by her side. She was born on January
29, 1949, in Carlisle, a daughter of the late Kenneth W. and Jennie M. (Bitner) Darhower. Linda
was a loving homemaker. She formerly attended church services and volunteered at the Carlisle Salvation
Army. Linda enjoyed playing cards, Yahtzee and Skip-Bo. She will be deeply missed by
her loving family. She is survived by her husband of 10 years,
James L. Benson, three daughters; Jennifer (Robert) Rickrode of Carlisle, Kristy Weaver of Carlisle and Mary (Rick) Foose
of Newport, one stepson, James L. (Connie) Benson, Jr. of Harrisburg, one stepdaughter, April (Sean) Sneider of Portsmith,
VA, four brothers; Kenneth Darhower of Riverton, WY, Ronald Darhower of Hanover, Steven Darhower of Campbelltown and Thomas
Darhower of Carlisle, one sister, Karen Weary of Newville, nine grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Linda
was predeceased by one step-granddaughter, Hope Sneider.
A viewing will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 29, 2014 followed by a funeral
service at 3 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle. Chaplain Bradley V.
Moore will officiate. Burial will be private.
