
Thomas E. “Honey Boy” Black, 94, of Carlisle, died
Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle. He was born June 29, 1919, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late William
and Katherine (Merryman) Black. Mr. Black retired in 1985 after 20 years of service with
Pittsburgh Gear Company and enjoyed working and helping at Market Cross Pub, Carlisle. He was a member
of Carlisle Elks Lodge 578 and Carlisle American Legion Post 101. He was a wonderful, loving husband, father,
grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his wife, the former Betty J. Merriman,
whom he married on December 21, 1987; a daughter, Julianne (David) Eiler of Saltsburg; a son, Michael Black of Pittsburgh;
a stepson, Jeff (JoAnne) Goss of Carlisle; 4 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. In addition
to his parents, he was preceded in death by 7 siblings.
Funeral arrangements will be private and under the direction of Ewing Brothers
Funeral Home, Carlisle.
