Carl J. Stasyszyn, 79, of Carlisle, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Carlisle Regional Medical Center.  He was born on Feb. 2, 1935, in Larksville, a son of the late Michael J. and Helen (Stachnik) Stasyszyn.

He was a 1953 graduate of the former St. Vincent Catholic High School in Plymouth and served several years in the United States Army Reserves.  Carl was a devout member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Carlisle, where he enjoyed the Tuesday Prayer Group.  From 1968 to 1974, Carl was the Food Service Director at Dickinson College in Carlisle, where he took great pride in serving the Washington Redskins their training meals.  From 1974 to 2006, he owned and operated the former Locker Room Sports Café in Carlisle.  Since 2008, Carl has been employed at the Carlisle Wal-Mart in the deli.  He was an avid Redskin and Boston Celtic fan.  Carl’s greatest love was his children and grandchildren and attending all their activities and sporting events.

He is survived by his longtime companion; Betty Jumper, one daughter, Rosanne Cramer of Mechanicsburg, two sons; Carl M. (Theresa) Stasyszyn and Joseph A. (Denise) Stasyszyn, both of Carlisle, five grandchildren; Angelina, Gabriel, Marguerite, Jordan and Kelsey Stasyszyn.  He was predeceased by one brother, Chester Stasyszyn and one son-in-law, Thomas L. Cramer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 85 Marsh Dr., Carlisle, with Rev. William C. Forrey officiating.  Burial will be in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, North Middleton Twp.  A viewing will be held at Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover Str., Carlisle on Tuesday, June 3, 2014, from 6 – 8:00 p.m. and where a Prayer service will be held at 8 p.m.  Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church, 152 E. Pomfret Str., Carlisle, PA 17013.

To the families of Carl, just wanted you to know how well liked he was. I always enjoyed our talks at the deli and when I saw him in Walmart. I am sure he will be greatly missed by all, and he will be missed by those who were lucky enough to have talked to him even for just a few minutes on a shopping day. He was good man.

To the Stasyszyn Family, you are in our thoughts and prayers. Your Dad was a special man who always saw the best in people. Although we moved from Carlisle more than 25 years ago, the wonderful memories we have of your Dad will always be with us. Two in particular -- his convincing the Carlisle Penn State Booster Club to do a 150 Raffle to provide a scholarship for PSU students. The Club still uses that raffle to raise funds for the Club to help students from the area attend PSU. The other memory is all the times we went to the restaurant with our baby daughter, Katie. Carl and the waitresses would come by and sit and talk with us as we enjoyed our meal. More than once Katie would take a trip around the restaurant with ""Uncle Carl" to see the other people. May you have many fond memories to share and enjoy. God's Blessings and Peace be with you in this time of sorrow.

To Rose Cramer and Family,

Know that you have our heart felt sympathy in the loss of your father. We pray God's presence gives you peace and comfort in knowing to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord! As you live to live again, you will see your father again in Heaven. A place where here's no more weeping, pain or cares of this world be be left behind. Psalmist David says 121:1-2 "Lift up my eyes to the hills-where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth"!

Love,
Sister and Friend Tonettte Lee and Lewis Family

Dear Coach Joe,

I just learned of the recent passing of your father, and I'm so deeply sorry. Having lost my own Dad in 2009, I have a slight inkling of what you and your family are enduring.

Simple words cannot provide the solace and comfort you need right now, but at the very least, please know that you and your Dad's friends and entire family are in my thoughts and prayers.

With my heartfelt condolences...

Kate Mullen
