

Howard S. “Bump” Barnes, Jr., 67, of Martinsburg, WV, passed away on Wednesday, April
30, 2014, in the Martinsburg V. A. Medical Center. He was born on Dec. 31, 1946, in Carlisle, a son of
the late Howard S. Barnes, Sr. and Phyllis E. (Profater) Barnes. Howard attended Carlisle High School and was a United State Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was awarded many honors for his military service, including a Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam
Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Ribbon, Combat Action Badge and the Good Conduct Medal. Bump was a member
of American Legion Post 826, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Kimberly Ann (Felton) Barnes, six sons; Garret T. Palmer, Nathaniel Barnes,
Adrian L. Barnes, Delante Barnes, all of Carlisle and Dwight Barnes and Nigel Barnes, both of Martinsburg, WV, two daughters;
Deb/l Barnes of Martinsburg and Giannina Barnes Bailey of Carlisle, three brothers; Lonnie S. Barnes of Harrisburg, Adrian
D. Barnes of Washington D.C. and Calvin E. Barnes of Carlisle, two sisters; Victoria E. Barnes of Washington D.C. and Jacqueline
E. Barnes of Laurel, MD, several grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Howard was predeceased by two
brothers; Dwight B. Barnes and Darryl T. Barnes.
A
viewing will begin at 11 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 12 noon on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, in the Ewing Brothers
Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover Str., Carlisle, with Rev. Walter R. Reed, Jr. officiating. Burial with military
honors will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.
