

Marlin M. Bishop, Sr.,
88, of Carlisle, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2014, at Claremont Nursing & Rehab. Center, Carlisle. He
was born on Oct. 21, 1925, in Carlisle, a son of the late Herman M. and Minerva (Moore) Bishop. Marlin was a Navy veteran of WW II and was awarded several honors for his service. He earned his
GED when his oldest son graduated from high school. Marlin retired in 1990 from Quaker Oats, Inc. in Shiremanstown
after 19 years of service. He also worked in the construction industry for many years. Marlin
enjoyed doing puzzles and thoroughly reading the newspaper.
He
is survived by his loving and devoted wife of nearly 64 years, Elsie M. (Woodrow) Bishop, six children; Marlin (wife, Patti)
Bishop, Jr. of Shippensburg, Linda (husband, Craig) Yinger of Mechanicsburg, Duane Bishop of Shippensburg, Vickie (husband,
Steve) Bookamer of Carlisle, Jim (wife, Patty) Bishop of Shippensburg and Cindi (companion, Chuck Hoyes) Bishop of Mt. Holly
Springs, 10 grandchildren; Mike, Michelle, Amy, Chad, Joel, Ashley, Kaylee, Kendra, Ryan and Logan, two step grandchildren;
Craig and Steven, 10 great-grandchildren with one more on the way, one step great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. Private graveside services will be held in the Mt. Holly Springs
Cemetery with military honors by Cumberland County Honor Guard. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle,
is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association
