
Dorothy E. Brunner, 85, of Carlisle,
passed to eternal life on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at her home. She was born on Dec. 25, 1928, in Bloserville,
a daughter of the late Andrew J. and Alice M. (Spidle) Detwiler, and was the widow of Leroy C. Brunner, who died May 26, 2009. Dorothy graduated in 1948 from Carlisle High School. She was a loving homemaker and had
worked as a cashier at the former G. C. Murphy’s and Woolworth’s stores in Carlisle for a combined 26 years of
service. She was a member of the Huntsdale Church of the Brethren, Carlisle. She is survived by one son, Richard D. Brunner of Carlisle, four daughters; Connie L. (husband, Ray) Townsend
of Pennsburg, Linda K. (husband, Alvin) Thumma of Carlisle, Nancy P. LaPorte of Harrisburg and Barbara A. (husband, Ken) Stone
of Carlisle, seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased
by one son, Robert Brunner and one grandson, Linwood Phillips, IV.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. in the Huntsdale
Church of the Brethren, 170 Church Rd., Carlisle, with Rev. Jan Custer and Rev. Harry Madison officiating. Burial
will follow in the church cemetery. A viewing will be held at the church from 10:30 a.m. until time of
the services. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial
contributions may be made to Huntsdale Church of the Brethren or to South Fairview Church of God.
