George T. Bell, 80, of Carlisle, peacefully passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2014, at the ManorCare
Health Services in Carlisle. He was born on Nov. 18, 1933, in Painter, VA, a son of the late Mary (Bell)
Wise and John Hatney. George was a big-rig truck driver and retired
after 10 years of service with Carlisle Carriers. He also had worked for several other transportation companies
prior to retiring. He was a member and Deacon of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Carlisle. He is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 29 years, Janet L. (Washington) Bell, two sons; David Bishop
and Sylvester Hayward, one daughter, Georgette E. Bell, one stepson, Steven Washington, one sister, Mary S. White, a sister-in-law,
Margaret Dennis, six other stepchildren from a previous marriage, nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a host of
nieces, nephews and friends. Services to celebrate George’s life will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2014, at 12:00 noon in the Ewing
Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Pastor Daniel B. Keys officiating. A viewing
will be from 11 a.m. until time of the services. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

George will be truly missed. I met George at Petro where
I formerly worked. He was the sunshine that would make everyone's day with his sense of humor.
