
Florence L. Shoemaker, 86, formerly of Newville, died Saturday,
March 29, 2014, at Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle. She was born Dec. 13, 1927,
in New Bloomfield, a daughter of the late Robert G. and Esther (Sheaffer) Shoff, and the widow of John W. Shoemaker, who died
July 1, 2010. Florence was a loving and devoted homemaker.
She was a former member of the Newville Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by one son, Ronald Shoemaker of Etters, two daughters; Betty (husband, Paul) Crider of Newville
and Susan (husband, Randy) Dick of Boiling Springs, one brother, John Shoff of Newville, two sisters; Elaine Thompson of Shippensburg
and Esther Armstrong of Carlisle, a daughter-in-law, Cathy Shoemaker of Carlisle, six grandchildren; Ryan Dick, Paul Crider,
Jr., Melissa Hoover, Jennifer McClintock, Brandy Schmick and Shawna Souder, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Charles W. “Bill” Shoemaker, a granddaughter, Robin A. Crider, three
brothers; Harry, David and Robert Shoff and one sister, Ruth Thompson. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home,
630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle. Chaplain Sharan Reams will officiate. Burial will be in Cumberland
Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until time of service.
