Alverta J. Bobb, 78,
of Carlisle, passed to eternal life on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at home with loving family by her side. She
was born on June 9, 1935, in West Chester, a daughter of the late Miles E. and Helen A. (Lowe) Copenhaver. Alverta was a homemaker and had worked at the former Carlisle Shoe Co. for 10 years. She was a
faithful member of Carlisle First Church of The Brethren.
She
is survived by her loving and devoted husband of more than 59 years, George C. Bobb, Sr., one son, George C. (Melissa) Bobb,
Jr. of Carlisle, two daughters; Susan H. (Randy) Bobb - Kincade of Carlisle and Kathy M. (Donald) Ryan of Boiling Springs,
two brothers; John Copenhaver of Sun City, Florida and Cyrus Copenhaver of Mobile, AL, two sisters; Tessie Shrawder of Carlisle
and Shirley Copenhaver of St. Augustine, Florida, six grandchildren; George Bobb, III, Laci Wimer, Anthony, Elizabeth and
Victoria Gehman and Jessica Ryan, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Alverta was predeceased
by five brothers; Grant, Miles, Frank, Irvin and Clarence Copenhaver and three sisters; Betty Wright, Marian Bailey and Mary
Hippensteel. Funeral
services will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at 10 a.m. in the Carlisle First Church of The Brethren, 1340 Forge Rd.,
Carlisle, with Pastors Jim and Marla Abe officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery.
Viewings will be held at the church on Tuesday evening from 6 – 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on
Wednesday. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial
contributions may be made to her church or to Celtic Healthcare, 220 Wilson Str., Ste. 100, Carlisle, PA.
