

John Dee Anderson, Sr.,
74, of Carlisle, went home to glory on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at the M. S. Hershey Medical Center. He
was born on March 17, 1939, in Saint Petersburg, FL, a son of the late John D. and Matherleen (Latimer) Anderson. John graduated from Gibbs High School in St. Petersburg and served in the US Army. He was a retired
automobile and diesel mechanic and had worked for D. K. Hershey in Hanover. John was a member of the Church
of God In Christ, Steelton. John was an Evangelist and avid Bible teacher. He was a
member of American Legion Post 826, Carlisle.
He
is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Bettye J. (Smiley) Anderson, three sons; John D. Anderson, Jr., of
Carlisle, Eugene K. Anderson of Austin TX and Marlon D. Anderson of Rahway, NJ, two daughters; Darlene L. Anderson of Carlisle
and Donna R. (John) Foster of Minot, ND, one brother, Nathaniel Anderson, five sisters; Altamese Taylor, Mary Cashwell, Katherleen
Anderson, Angela Roundtree, and Peggy Anderson and a host of grandchildren and extended family members. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 9, 2013, at
1 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Rev. Clarence Smiley officiating.
Burial with military honors by Cumberland County Honor Guard will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.
A viewing will be held Monday from 12 noon until time of services. The family kindly requests no
