Betty J. Zechman, 82, of Carlisle, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at Carlisle Regional Medical Center with family by her side.  She was born on August 12, 1931, in Lewisburg, the daughter of the late Wilson D. and Rose (Yarger) Dieffenderfer, and was the widow of the late LTC (Ret) Donald L. Zechman, US Army, who died on October 13, 2013.

Betty was a 1949 graduate of Montandon High School.  She was a loving homemaker and attended the Bethany Evangelical Church, Carlisle.  Betty loved to play Bingo.

She is survived by two sons; James (Margaret) Brown of Mifflinburg and Dirk (Chris) Zechman of Carlisle, one daughter, Barbara (Kevin) Sheriff of Carlisle, one step-daughter, Kathy Keiser of Champlain, NY, 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover Str., Carlisle, with Rev. Paul Dunbar officiating.  Burial will be at a later date in West Milton Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until time of services.  Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Evangelical Church or to the American Diabetes Association.
