

Harold E. Aikey, 91, of Carlisle, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 2, 1921, in Howard, PA, a son of the late William J. and Lala M. (Leach) Aikey. Harold was a 1941 graduate of Belfonte High School.
He was a US Army veteran of WWII and earned several honors and medals, including four bronze stars. Harold
retired as a block operator from Conrail in 1981 with more than 40 years of service. He also raised Herefords
on his farm. Harold enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years,
Ruth E. (Ployd) Aikey, one son, Douglas D. (wife, Linda) Aikey of Central City, two daughters; Sandra R. McCann of Monkton,
MD and Brenda E. (husband, Wayne) Trotta of Mechanicsburg, nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces
and nephews. Harold was predeceased by one brother, Boyd T. Aikey, three sisters; Louise Evoch, Dorothy
Kucas and Peggy Aikey. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630
S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Pastor Wayne Wheeler officiating. A viewing will be from 12:30 p.m. until
time of services on Friday. Burial with military honors by Cumberland County Honor Guard will be in Cumberland
Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.
