
Harry I. Karper, Jr., 70, of Carlisle, died Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at his home. He was
born Feb. 21, 1943, in Carlisle, a son of the late Harry I. Karper, Sr. and Ella Mae (Boldosser) Karper. Harry retired after 37 years of service with the Giant Food
Store in Carlisle. He attended Carlisle High School and in his younger years had worked at the former Dave
Lebo’s Gas Station, Carlisle. Harry loved to go fishing and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins
and the Philadelphia Eagles. He formerly attended the former Grace United Methodist Church, Carlisle. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Yvonne F. (Blumberg)
Karper, one son, Wayne Michael Karper, one daughter, Linda Rasmussen, one brother, Ronald Karper, all of Carlisle, one sister,
Rosemary Smith of Roanoke, VA, two step-daughters; Leslie Rhoades of Gardners and Stephanie Ollestad of Carlisle, four step-grandchildren,
one step great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. Harry was predeceased by his first wife, Carolyn
(Devore) Karper, two brothers; Robert and Wayne Karper and one sister, Shirley Myers. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home,
630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Rev. Lisa M. Leber and Pastor Tim Wheeler officiating. A viewing will
be held on Thursday evening from 6 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cumberland
Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle, with a time of fellowship and luncheon to immediately follow at the First Evangelical Lutheran
Church, Carlisle. Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to Celtic Healthcare, Ste.
